Have you and your crew ridden on the newest bike trail heading west out of Perham to Paul Lake and Little McDonald Lake? It's a fun, quick ride out to the swimming beach along Paul Lake where swimming lessons were held 'in the old days'. How about the bike trail stretching from Frazee to Detroit Lakes? Circle Detroit Lake and take in a fun stop for lunch. Or head a few minutes south to Glendalough State Park. This tranquil, basically flat ride winds through the park and around lakes. Cap off your fine day with a little food or ice cream in Battle Lake.
Now as summer enters our favorite part, the point is to soak up the perfect temperatures and 'get your move on'. Whether you bike, jog, walk or scooter on these beautiful days the goal is relaxing in the heaven on earth that is Minnesota lake country. If you're serious about having fun, join the Lakes Area Bike Club. They describe themselves as an eating club with a biking disorder. They ride Tuesday evenings, starting from and ending at an area restaurant for dinner. Always welcoming to new members, bicyclists individually choose the length or difficulty of their ride.
